== Thesis bureaucracy, general observations == Your thesis is coordinated by the Analytical and Organic Chemistry Deptartment, your contact there is Dúnia Munné (dunia.munne@urv.cat) Phone nr. 977 55 85 99 1) FIRST YEAR STUDENTS: Step by step guide written by Federico on 28/11/2017 [[Image: VADEMECUM_PhD_URV.pdf]] 1.1) ENROLLMENT: The last period to pre-register to a Doctoral Program in the URV is from 1st to 10th March (http://www.urv.cat/gestio_academica/tramits_administratius/en_acces_doctorat.html) and you should register (and pay) for thesis tutorials from 25th to 31st of this month (http://www.urv.cat/gestio_academica/tramits_administratius/en_mat_tutoria_1_doct.html 1.2) THESIS REGISTRATION UPDATE MARCH 2014 -> the procedure has changed and now to '''register''' your thesis you need to get a letter from the Postgraduate and Doctoral School (builing right behind the ICIQ) with your "obligations" as a PhD student and stating your line of research. This letter has to be signed by you and the thesis director and handed in to the Department. You also have to fill in a document with all the activities you've done up to now and the study plan for your thesis. The document is called "Doc1_DAD+PlaInv" and it's submitted online https://intranet.urv.cat/html/login/login.jsp?goto=http%3A%2F%2Ftramits.urv.cat%3A82%2Fcontinguts%2Fproc_doctorat%2Falumne%2Fcat%2Fdad_preparardocu.htm You need to update and send this document EVERY YEAR in (?)April(?)ff This "Doc1_DAD+PlaInv" has to be "approved" by your thesis director first, and then by the academic comission.''' If you don't send the document in time or you fail the evaluation YOU WON'T BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE WITH YOUR PHD''' 2) SECOND AND THIRD YEAR STUDENTS: send the updated version of "Doc1_DAD+PlaInv" in April (?) ---------------------- UPDATE SEPT. 2013 -> see document (in appalling English)[[Image: Aplication_Procedure_2013.pdf]] * Thesis paperwork changes every now and then, so pay attention to ask to URV which rules apply at the moment you would like to submit. Following are described some of the steps that are usually required as a guideline. Take into account that on August most URV offices are closed. * Most of the procedure concerning the thesis submission process is very well described in the link above. However, there are some aspects that may cause confusion: ** The first thing is POP ( = octopus in catalan). On the web page it says that you need an authorisation from POP when submitting to the department. This is not accurate! POP is the department and you cannot obtain an authorisation before having submitted the thesis to the department. On the authorisation form you therefore fill out your personal data, hand in the form at the secretary's office and they will fill out the rest. ** Another thing is the reports from the European experts: at the moment you submit the thesis to the department, you hand in a form with the personal data of the European experts. The university will then send them an e-mail with instruction on what to do. The reports will be sent electronically directly to the doctorate school. You don't have to worry. * Some days (weeks) in advance of submitting to the department it is advisable to go to the secretary's office at the department of physical chemistry asking what documentation you have to provide. At the moment of writing (September 2010) some additional documentation compared to what is mentioned on the web page is required (e.g the personal data of the jury members. When you go to the secretary's office, you will be given a form explaining exactly what information they need.
