Backing up data regularly is one of the most important maintainence task for a computational researcher. The data can be lost accidentally (by pressing rm -r *) or by no mistake of yours (hard disk corrupted), so it is important to have a backup strategy setup. This can be done automatically as seen from the pdfs below; either through scripting or through BACKUPS tool. It is recommended you backup the data atleast once per week. Martin Gumbau made these pdfs to make lives easier for us, so choose one of the strategies and protect your data.

Why backup your data?

Backing up data regularly is one of the most important maintainence task for a computational researcher. The data can be lost accidentally (by pressing rm -r *) or by no mistake of yours (hard disk corrupted), so it is important to have a backup strategy setup. This can be done automatically as seen from the pdfs below; either through scripting or through BACKUPS tool. It is recommended you backup the data atleast once per week.
